The effect of this problem can be easily observed in the elderly as susceptibility to bone fractures. Calcium forms an important nutrient for bone strength, therefore females are more prone to this disorder than males as large amounts of calcium is depleted from a mother’s body during child birth and lactation. Joint pain is one of the most common complaints amongst the elderly. Wear and tear of the cartilage at the joints results in friction between the bones causing osteoarthritis that is evident in the form of stiffness, swelling and pain of joints. Despite this list of health disorders occurring in the elderly, there are people who are hail and hearty even at the age of 75 years. The key to sound health lies in a healthy lifestyle that can definitely add a number of years to your life.
